Fishlab’s have released a version of their awesome space combat game, Galaxy on Fire 2. This version of Galaxy on Fire 2 is strictly for the Xperia Play but don’t let that get you down! Remember, we have played Galaxy of Fire 2 on Tegra 2 Android devices so if you own one, definitely check it out via Tegra Zone.
While we are guessing it may come out for single-core Android devices at some point, based off the fact that the Xperia Play is single-core, it is available for Tegra 2 devices already. Galaxy on Fire 2 is also 100% native coded for Android 2.3 with fully optimized controls for the Xperia Play.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is a space combat/Sim game that features some incredible visual eye candy along with some great gameplay to round it off. This will be one of the games that will shine on the Xperia Play thanks to the gaming controls. You can pick Galaxy on Fire 2 up off the Android Market right now for $11.26, if you have an Xperia Play.

Fishlabs’ epic outer space adventure Galaxy on Fire 2 out now for the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY
A specially-optimised version of the multiple award-winning outer space simulation Galaxy on Fire 2™ for Sony Ericsson’s game-changing smartphone is available worldwide from today.
Hamburg, Germany, 1 April 2011 – The Xperia™ PLAY from Sony Ericsson, which launches this month around the world, is the must have smartphone from Sony Ericsson on the fully-featured Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform. It is also the world’s first PlayStation certified smartphone, offering unrivalled gaming capability with dedicated gaming controls and ultra-fast graphics based on the optimised Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Adreno GPU.
The extremely popular, epic sci-fi adventure Galaxy on Fire 2™, with 10 to 40 hours of gaming fun, is now available to hardcore mobile gamers for download in the Android Market in a special, 100% native coded Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) version, fully optimized for the gaming controls of the Xperia™ PLAY.
The multiple award-winning outer space simulation, which continues the adventures of Keith T. Maxwell after a malfunction in the hyperdrive of his spaceship catapults him 35 years into the future and confronts him with the galactic threat of the Void, has been adapted for the special input options of the high-end gaming smartphone. With the phone closed, Galaxy on Fire 2™ can be played using touch and motion controls. If the Xperia™ PLAY is opened, the virtual controls are no longer displayed on the screen and players can enjoy the breathtaking graphics in full resolution. The players’ spaceship can be steered with both the left control pad and the analogue touchpad, while the four gaming buttons on the right can be used to fire the primary and secondary weapons, ignite the boost, and operate the context menu for weapons, hyperdrive, and wingmen. In addition, the two shoulder buttons can be used to call up the navigation menu or change the camera perspective.
‘Thanks to the dedicated gaming buttons, Galaxy on Fire 2™ plays on the Xperia PLAY like on a mobile console. The controls are unbelievably precise and neither fingers nor virtual controls cover the display. This way, the breathtaking outer space graphics really come into their own’, said Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment. ‘The Xperia PLAY is made-to-order for a graphics-intensive and complex outer space shooter like Galaxy on Fire 2™.’
“Fishlabs is one of the world’s leading independent mobile developers, regularly picking up awards for their titles,” said Steve Walker, Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “Hardcore gamers will love Galaxy on Fire 2™ on Xperia™ PLAY. It showcases the smartphone’s stunning graphics and processing capabilities brilliantly, and Fishlabs’ integration of Xperia™ PLAY’s unique physical keys sets a new standard in gameplay on a smartphone.”
Galaxy on Fire 2™ is available for download in the Android Market and from leading network operators for $ 9.99/ € 7.99/ £ 5.99 as of today.
