[CES2012] Hands-on with Shadowgun’s upcoming multiplayer version called Deadzone

One of the other items we really wanted to check out was the multiplayer functionality that is coming to Shadowgun for Android. This new version will be called Shadowgun: Deadzone and we got to check out some of the gameplay for it. End result: It is about time multiplayer came to Shadowgun.

The multiplayer aspect of Shadowgun will still have you playing in the third-person perspective. You will be able to choose from eight different characters which you will then pick one of four maps and get to shooting people in the face. There will be more maps down the road but at launch there will be four for now. You can also choose from several different game modes as well as Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.

At the nVidia booth we got to play a little Deathmatch using some controllers and a couple of Transformer Primes. It was actually pretty impressive and a lot of fun. You will be able to play multiplayer games online anywhere you are connecting through WiFi. A couple of things to note though. When Shadowgun: Deadzone comes out for Android, it will most likely be a separate download/install outside of the original Shadowgun game. This isn’t 100% for sure though. Secondly, it will be exclusive to the Tegra 3 chipset for about a month before landing on other Android devices. No exact release date has been announced but it should be pretty quick.
