[Updated] Aerena – Clash of Champions goes live with Alpha access available through Google Play

Last week we talked about a rather cool looking turn-based combat game called Aerena – Clash of Champions by Cliffhanger Productions. This is one of those games we’ve been talking about lately that will be arriving with cross-platform support between mobile and PC gamers, being available through Steam for PC, Mac and Linux users while also being launched on iOS and Android for the mobile gamer to enjoy.

Update October 25th, 2013 8:52am PST: Just a quick update to let everyone know that the early Alpha access available on Google Play is location restricted to residents of the US. If and when that location restriction expands, we’ll post another update.

Early Access is available through the game’s Steam listing but Android gamers can now jump into the early access fun with a new Alpha build of the game available through Google Play right now. Aerena is a Steampunk looking game in terms of visuals and technology involved in the game. However it isn’t called Steampunk in this game and is instead known as Aetherpunk where Aether is what powered the universe in this game. This is a hero-centric game so players will be in control of the hero that they want to play as before leading your team in their ship through various arenas and combat.

Aerena Featues:

– Battle anytime, anywhere with true cross-platform gameplay
– Use YOUR tactics and strategy in challenging battles to lead your team of Champions to victory
– Compete live against your friends and other players, or perfect your combat skills in solo training
– Pilot your ship from arena to arena and leverage its special abilities to support your team
– Turn the tide of battle with game-changing Æther Effects
– Build a winning strategy from 40+ Champions, Æther Shells and ships
– Once you’re battle-tested, enter the “League of Champions” and compete against the world’s best players for the ultimate prize

Keep in mind that this is an Alpha version of the game so there might not be all of the gameplay available and there could very well be bugs. With that said, this is a pretty entertaining and fun game to check out and since doing that won’t cost you anything at all (it’s free), there’s no harm in giving this game a whirl.
