Developer Epic Games has finally agreed to put Fortnite on the Google Play Store, after a prolonged hold-out over Google’s policies.
According to Polygon, the move comes as a result of Google’s policy towards apps available outside the Google Play Store. That policy includes serving up “scary” pop-ups warning users about security.
Despite its climbdown, Epic remains critical of Google’s approach to Android game developers, and hopes that it will change to create a level playing field in the future.
As things stand, Google will get 30% of all IAPs made in Fortnite, so the motivation for a change of heart is not immediately obvious.
You can download Fortnite for free right now on Google Play – or from the Epic store if you don’t mind the scary pop-ups.
