The Trick To Getting Tales of Tanorio Shiny Flowither!

The image shows my avatar and her baby chewaqua as they step through the gate to enter into the next area. Both characters are seen looking around

After one of the rarest catches in the game? My Tales of Tanorio Shiny Flowither guide contains a handy trick to help search for this elusive and impressive shiny.

Shiny Tanorians are an aesthetic cosmetic with no stat buff. Yet still shiny Tanorians have so much appeal that players will actively seek them despite their low spawn chance and null benefits. The whole appeal of shiny variants is that their original pelt colour will be unusual from the standard, and they emit a small twinkling shine.

Don’t forget to check out Tales of Tanoio over on Roblox. I also made a Tales of Tanorio Rarest Shinies guide and a How To Shiny Hunt Starters In Tales of Tanorio guide.

Tales of Tanorio Shiny Flowither

At the time of writing, Flowither is the ONLY Legendary Tanorian in the game and the rarest shiny! With a whopping 1 in 2 million shiny chance, it seems almost impossible to obtain. So impossible that again, at the time of writing, no player has succeeded in getting one!

This will be down to the wild rare spawn rate of Flowither paired with its obscenely low shiny chances. But, with a little (or a lot) of patience, you could get lucky enough to get this shiny!

Step 1: Unlock Flowither

First, take a step back. It would be best if you unlocked Flowither first. After defeating Dylan in Gym 2 you can cross the cliff at Kiagan Cliffs and head toward the camp. Some vines are hanging down the side of the cliff walls at the camp which lead towards a cave with Flowither inside.

Unlike other catch ’em-all games, here you must defeat Flowither in a boss fight. Once this beast is K’O’d, a text prompt will announce that “??? can now be found roaming in the wild!“. The version of Flowither you fight has a different appearance to the one in the wild, but you’ll know on encounter when you’ve found the Flowither legendary!

Now, the tricky part. Flowither has a wild spawn rate of 1 in 1000. This slim spawn rate is what makes the shiny Flowither have a 1 in 2 million shiny encounter chance.

How To Shiny Hunt Flowither

Much like other Tanorians the current best and most effective shiny hunting method is to chain hunt. What this means is, that the more encounters with one Tanorian you have which you defeat, the higher your chain. If you defeat a different species of Tanorian whilst chaining, your chain will be broken and reset to 1.

Chain hunting Flowither seems like a tricky feat since the only way to boost shiny encounters is to repeatedly defeat wild Flowithers. But, thanks to the Strong Incense, unlocked at level 15 and after defeating the Nikido Stadium, you can hunt rare Tanorians for 30 minutes.

I recommend unleashing the Incense along Route 1 where there are minimal rare Tanorians. This seemingly helps the chances to run into Flowither and get that chain started! Good luck!

Chaining Tricks

When changing any Tanorian you may want to keep this information on hand to know your best chances:

  • Chains max out at 1k encounters
  • Shiny base odds are 1/2000, once the chain hits around 500 this number drops to 1/256 (Legendaries exempt)
  • Wild shinies that spawn in the grass cannot reset your chain unless it is the same Tanorian as your chain
  • Catching a different species of Tanorian will ALWAYS reset your chain
  • Defeating a different species of Tanorian with a chain less than 50 will reset the chain, over 50 will not reset the chain
  • Legendaries have an increased multiplier for shiny chains meaning fewer encounters for the 1/256 base odds.
