Supercell has rolled out a new update for Clash Royale featuring the Spirit Empress. Also, the game now introduces an entirely new way to play. Long known for its fast-paced arena battles, it surely is revamping itself to lure back players who might have stepped away.
What’s the New Mode?
It’s called Merge Tactics. Keeping the basics intact, it layers on a merging system where players combine summoned units to make stronger versions. If you’ve spent time with Rush Royale, you’ll probably recognize how it works.
The update features the Spirit Empress, who is a flexible powerhouse in Clash Royale. Oh, and she can be played in two ways. You can deploy her on foot as a ground troop for 3 Elixir, or send her riding her spirit dragon for 6 Elixir.

Alongside her, the Skeleton Barrel is getting an Evolution. The Evolved Skeleton Barrel now drops barrels that deal death damage and spawn skeletons when they break. And if the barrels take damage midair, they’ll drop early, leading to unexpected waves of skeletons that can catch opponents completely off guard.

From now until July 14th, the Skeleton Barrel Evolution Draft lets you experiment with Card Evolutions in a classic draft setup.
Between July 14th and 21st, the Spirit Empress takes centre stage in Clash Royale. Then, there’s a from July 18th to 21st to really test out her versatility.
The Sudden Death mode returns from July 21st to 28th, where the first player to grab a Crown wins immediately. Lastly, the Goblin Party Rocket event runs from July 28th to August 4th, featuring a special rocket card.
