Dungeon Defenders will not be coming back to Google Play

Last year in October Trendy Entertainment pulled their Dungeon Defenders games from the Google Play store. They really didn’t notify anyone as to why they did this although we had our own ideas as to why it happened. One of those ideas was the recent issue with GameSpy where they shutdown multiple servers that games were hosted on.

We had a feeling this would affect some games and it seems we were right. Unfortunately Dungeon Defenders was permanently affected by this shutdown, as it ran their online games through GameSpy, and now they will not be coming back ever. According to Trendy Entertainment, it is too costly to switching the coding from their current hosting, that being GameSpy, in order to use new hosting such as Google’s Cloud hosting.

Android fans, I have some bad news to share with you. I sat down with the development team to talk about when Second Wave will be coming back to the Google Play Store. I’ve been informed that Second Wave will not be coming back to the store. Our previous hosting arrangement for the game expired, which is why the game went down from the store. To modify the code to use Google’s new content hosting features is too costly. – Trendy Entertainment

So we now know what the original problem was and why it was pulled from Google Play. Unfortunately we now know it also won’t be coming back ever which is a real shame since Dungeon Defenders is a great game.
