Gameloft cancels March of Heroes. Unreal Engine games coming in 2012.

Gameloft has just announced that their upcoming 3D FPS game called March of Heroes has been officially canceled. Those of you out there who were looking forward to this game being released don’t have to worry about waiting anymore. However, Gameloft did include a little gem of information in their post.

While Gameloft simply cited that March of Heroes has been canceled as the developers are simply working on bringing other awesome games our way, they don’t go on to explain it any further than that. March of Heroes was to be Gameloft’s first Unreal Engine built game that was going to be released on iOS and Android soon. So where does this leave us when it comes to their upcoming Unreal Engine built titles?

Official Statement:

Hi everyone, we know we have a big community of FPS fans here… so we are very sorry to announce that we will not be releasing March of Heroes.

Our developers will be focusing on developing various awesome games in the months to come and working on making them even better. Fans of March of Heroes should definitely look forward to the powerful Modern Combat 3. We are however, not cancelling our work on the Unreal Engine! We are expecting to release these games starting 2012.

Well first, Modern Combat 3 is still on the way for those of you wondering. Modern Combat 3, however, isn’t built using the Unreal Engine but instead their own game development engine. When it comes to Unreal Engine made games from Gameloft, we will have to wait until 2012 before they start coming out. Could this be some sort of prank? Possibly but we doubt it. Gameloft is pretty upfront with their information when they release it.
