During its launch in 2019, King of Crabs became popular due to its bizarre but charming premise. It was a battle royale, but with crabs. Now, developer Robot Squid is returning to the crustacean chaos with something more epic. King of Crabs – Invasion is the new game.
From Epic Crab Battle Royale to Epic Crab Warfare
In the new game, Robot Squid has changed the format. Instead of jumping into a chaotic tidepool with 99 other players, it’s a real-time strategy format. They’ve basically turned the original mayhem into a mini RTS.
You still lead crabs into combat in King of Crabs – Invasion like last time. But instead of scrambling around for weapons and eating smaller creatures to grow, you tactically deploy units along a linear battlefield.
You get options like standard crab soldiers, catapults, and mace-wielding tanks with claws. Each match is about overwhelming your enemy before they crush your side of the board. It also depends on the map and whatever random obstacle is thrown at you.

King of Crabs – Invasion Is on Android
The game is already live in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Singapore. For global players, it launches on Android on May 30th, just three days away. It’s more like a spin-off of the original game.
Talking about the original, King of Crabs was the debut title from Robot Squid, a British indie studio founded in 2018. They teamed up with Spilt Milk Studios to launch the game in 2020 for Microsoft Windows, Android, and iOS. At its peak, people were even calling it Fortnite with claws.
