Mad Catz’s new MOJO game console unboxed – This is what you will see when you buy one

So as we mentioned yesterday over our social medial channels, we just received one of the first Android powered MOJO game consoles sent out for review by Mad Catz. As we also stated, we were going to do an unboxing so you can all see what you can expect to find when you open up the packaging for the MOJO game console.

True to Mad Catz style, the packaging itself is rather nice. Mad Catz tends to have some pretty unique packaging for a lot of their gaming peripherals. Interestingly enough, the MOJO game console isn’t just a console but an entire system for gaming both at home and on the go, something we were not aware of up until now. We will expand on that a bit later.

Opening up the packaging, you are presented right away with your new MOJO game console and Mad Catz’s C.T.R.L.r game controller. Moving that out of the way, you’ll find all the cabling for your new console. There is an HDMI cable, power cord and something we didn’t expect to find, a travel clip. Since the MOJO console is stock Android 4.2.2, you can not only use all of the peripherals from Mad Catz that uses their GameSmart technology, but you can connect any Bluetooth capable peripheral to the console.

Our current setup for our MOJO game console, once we unpacked it of course, is the addition of the S.T.R.I.K.E.7 keyboard, the R.A.T.m Mouse and Mad Catz’s F.R.E.Q.7 headset. All of these peripherals work just fine with the console out of the box. We will expand on how everything works with our official reviews of… well… everything.

As for the size of the console, it is smaller than the area of a CD case.

The final hardware and software specs for the MOJO console were what we though they would be in our previous articles:

– Tegra 4 chip running at 1.8Ghz
– 2GB of RAM
– 16GB of internal storage which is expandable through the MicroSD slot
– USB 2.0 slot, USB 3.0 slot, 100Mbit port, Ethernet port, HDMI slot, and a 3.5mm audio port
– Android 4.2.2 (stock)
– Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n
– 3 different modes: Console, Mouse, and PC mode (We will go through what each one of these modes do in another article)

While the MOJO console is ready to go right out of the box, allowing you to play your Android games from Google Play the moment you plug it in and download your current library of titles. This also goes for streaming movies, TV shows, music and anything else from Google Play that you already own. However the unexpected twist to the whole setup is the inclusion of the travel clip which allows you to connects your Android phone to the C.T.R.L.r game controller a la MOGA-style so you can play your games on the go.

So this is what you can expect when you purchase a MOJO Android powered game console. We will be going through every feature of this console over the next few days so if you have any questions about this unit, let us know in the comments below so we can answer them for you over the next few days as we work over our MOJO console.
