Usually Nvidia takes CES each year to announce their next products in the mobile gaming space, whether that be a new iteration of a current product, or a whole new device. Right now Nvidia is in the perfect spot in their Shield product timeline to be introducing something new at CES 2017. According to an anonymous source, this is exactly what will be happening regarding the Nvidia Shield Android TV.

You may remember the other week when Nintendo announced its newest gaming ‘console’ which is called the Nintendo Switch. Initial reports had this tablet-style game console, with detachable physical controls that form a game controller when put together, arriving without a touch screen. Now it appears that those reports are not true and, in fact, the Switch will have a touch screen.
Nvidia, maker of a the Shield Android TV unit, Shield tablet, and the Shield Portable, also offer games that take direct advantage of their hardware, either linking to Google Play, or offering them through their own through streaming service called GeForce Now. With the latter, any purchase of premium priced games from there is also accompanied by a Steam code, for offline play. Through the end of this month, there’s a small group of games that NVidia has placed on sale.

Depending on how you want to buy it, you will either be wanting to go into a store, or buy it online. Either way you get the same deal.
Nvidia has released a new promotional video for their Android Shield TV unit but unlike the usual commercials that get released, this one is a bit different. This features a man with a crafted living room, complete with a couch, a cat, TV, and the Shield TV, falling 10,000 feet through the sky. While he’s tumbling towards the ground below, he plays a few games on the Shield TV.
With news coming out yesterday that the Forge TV is no longer for sale on Google’s Store, everyone has been speaking the inevitable doom of the company’s set-top box. We mentioned it didn’t make sense that after Razer’s purchase of Ouya that they would just simply let their Android TV initiative die and that perhaps they were getting ready for a new release for the Forge TV or another similar device. As it turns out, that could be exactly what they are doing.
Up until now you could only buy the Nvidia Shield Android TV off of Nvidia’s own website or places online such as Amazon. However, for those of you that enjoy buying their devices off of Google’s new storefront, you can now pick up the Nvidia Shield Android TV from there as well, complete with free shipping.
If appears that Razer is looking to bolster the sales of their Android set-top box / micro-console called the Forge TV as it has now appeared on Google’s Store for devices. We got to go hands-on with this set-top box back during GDC this year and with the short amount of time we had with it, it was a decent little box to play with.
