[MWC 2012] Sony confirms original content will be coming to the Playstation Suite

Good news for those of you out there that own a Playstation Certified Android device and would much rather have some original games instead of the porting of Playstation 1 games. Sony has confirmed at the Mobile World Congress, which is going on right now, that original content will be coming to the Playstation Suite soon.

Sony Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Steve Walker, was on stage at Mobile World Congress discussing the Xperia line of smartphones where they were announcing the Xperia U and Xperia P smartphones. Between the announcement of those two devices, Steve Walker mentioned that Playstation Certified devices would soon be able to access “content which has been newly created for the PlayStation Suite and PlayStation Store”. He went further one to state:

“Sony Computer Entertainment has a vision for PlayStation Suite and they will be leveraging their powerful developer relationships to bring original content through the PlayStation Suite initiative. More to come on that” – Steve Walker, Sony Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Since the launch of the Playstation App, available currently on the Xperia Play, there have been very few releases of games in the suite, all of which have been Playstation One ports.  Hopefully this means Sony, now after the acquisition of the Ericsson portion, will start pumping out some good original content for these devices.
