NieR Reincarnation’s Japanese Launch Has Been Pushed into Next Year

NieR Reincarnation, the highly anticipated mobile spin-off of the popular RPG series, will come out in 2021 rather than 2020, according to publisher Square Enix.

While no release date was ever officially announced, the App Store listing seemed to show that the launch would happen on December the 23rd. This was evidently legit, since Square Enix has issued a press release explaining the delay and taking the time to “deeply apologize”.

According to Siliconera, NieR Reincarnation’s development team has finished producing most of the content for the launch version of the game, and is now working on post-launch content, as well as ironing out bugs and tweaking code.

A global launch for NieR Reincarnation is in the pipeline, but there’s no launch date of any kind attached to that. So if you happen to live in Japan, you should be able to play the game fairly soon. If you live anywhere else, you’ll have to wait an additional period of indeterminate duration.
