Plants vs Zombies 2 has finally arrived but only for China right now

One game a lot of people have bee waiting for is the sequel to EA and Popcap’s rather popular defense game Plants vs Zombies. This sequel has already been available on iOS for a short period of time after multiple delays pushed the game’s release back quite a bit. Even with the iOS release, Android users have been waiting for some time to get this game.

Well it looks like Plants vs Zombies 2 is finally here for Android users but before you go running over to Google Play to get your zombie killing fix you need to know one thing, you won’t be able to get the game from Google Play, at least not for right now. In a strange turn of events, Plants vs Zombies 2 is only available in China for right now through Baidu.

In a post over on Popcap’s blog, the company talks about doing this location-specific release. When the iOS version was released the game’s servers were slammed with people trying to play the game. So a good guess would be that they are doing this location-specific release in order to test the servers before going worldwide. That way they won’t crash the moment the game is released to the masses.

So when can the rest of the world get their hands on this game? According to the post the worldwide release of Plants vs Zombies 2 on Android will happen this Fall no matter what. There isn’t a whole lot of time left in Fall so we should see the game pop up onto Google Play pretty quickly. If you can’t wait though you can always download the game from Baidu through the link below. It is a direct download to the .apk file.
