Spiralburst Studio has brought an official digital adaptation of a well-known board game. It’s Reiner Knizia’s My City, a city building strategy game. The tile-laying board game earned a Spiel des Jahres nomination in 2020 and won the International Gamers Award for Two-Player Games in 2021.

Explore Reiner Knizia’s My City

My City is all about carefully placing buildings on your own board to score as many points as possible. Each round, a card reveals the building type that you must construct. It’s up to you to find the optimal place for it.

Rocks are hazards that can get in your way, while trees are worth preserving for extra points. The game slowly raises the stakes with new rules, scoring twists, and shifting landscapes.

The continuously changing stakes feature is captured in the digital version’s full 24-episode legacy-style Campaign. It gradually alters how the game is played across a series of story-driven levels.

And if you want something extra, Reiner Knizia’s My City has modes you won’t find in the tabletop version. The Randomized Game is exclusive to the app and reshuffles the rules, maps, and even the river’s path every time you play.

Trees, rocks, and landmarks shift position, and campaign rules can be toggled on or off for a new puzzle each session. The more traditional Eternal Game is also included if you prefer the standard format.

Another app-only addition is the Daily Challenge, which offers a global competition with random rules and board setups. Here’s a small glimpse of the gameplay.

Lots of options!

Reiner Knizia’s My City supports both solo and competitive play. You can go up against up to three AI opponents or face off in online multiplayer with two to four players across different platforms.

There’s also offline play and an interactive tutorial for newcomers. Accessibility is part of the game, too, with features like high-contrast colours, symbols for colours, and alternate building textures.

Check out the game on the Google Play Store. It costs $6.99.
