Square Enix sneaks Dragon Quest II onto Google Play

With the Final Fantasy series coming to a halt for mobile devices for the next little while, except for maybe the odd spin-off game, Square Enix is continuing to push their other popular RPG series called Dragon Quest onto mobile as well. So far we have had Dragon Quest VIII, I and IV available on Google Play but Square Enix silently released Dragon Quest II onto Android the other day.

Apparently Square Enix doesn’t want to follow the series in the right order with the release of Dragon Quest VIII first, the Dragon Quest IV, and now Dragon Quest II. However we seem to be just fine with this as long as they all make it to Android as planned. As you are probably guessing, this new installment into the series features all the retro-y goodness you can handle, the full storyline from the original Dragon Quest II title, and all the character from it as well.

Dragon Quest II is played in the same way as the other Dragon Quest releases, and by that we mean the game is in portrait mode only. You’re movement controls are the big joystick in the bottom-middle of your screen. If you’ve been playing the other titles in the series, you should be fine with this already. If you haven’t been play these games, you might need a bit to get used to this.

For those of you interested in picking up Dragon Quest II, you can do so now off of Google Play for $4.99.
