Feral Interactive and The Creative Assembly are gearing up to drop a massive expansion for Total War. It’s Total War: EMPIRE – A New World, and the special thing about it is that it’s a mobile-only expansion. September 18th is the day when the expansion is set to release.

Hundreds of hours of additional gameplay are on the table

And there are new campaigns, balance changes, expanded rosters, and a slate of naval units. But the biggest headline feature is the unlock of 44 new playable factions, bringing the total to 55.

You can now control all non-rebel nations in the Grand Campaign. So, you can take the reins of the United States, the Mughal Empire, Gran Colombia, or the Barbary States right from the beginning.

Each has received expanded unit rosters and adjustments that make smaller nations more competitive in the late game. They’ve also reinforced naval warfare with 14 new ships. You’ll find smaller craft like dhows and light galleys and the mammoth 140-gun Santísima Trinidad, a late-18th-century naval powerhouse.

Two new campaigns accompany the Total War: EMPIRE – A New World expansion

The Late Start Campaign shifts the Grand Campaign map to 1783, right in the middle of the Age of Revolution. It’s when colonial empires such as Britain and France must fight to hold onto overseas territories.

The Warpath Campaign, originally a DLC on PC, is finally coming to mobile. It allows five Native American factions to wage war in a single-theatre setting. The Iroquois, Cherokee, Plains Nations, Pueblo Nations, and the Huron are also fully playable in the Grand Campaign for the first time.

Total War: EMPIRE – A New World is arriving exclusively on mobile, contradicting the fact that most of the expansions in the franchise’s history dropped on PC first. The base game is available on the Google Play Store, and A New World is priced at $6.99 as an in-app purchase.
