Neuroshima Hex from Big Daddys Creations is a game for those lovers of strategy games. As they mention on their Google Play page, “Easy to learn, hard to master” that is definitely true. Neuroshima Hex is a well known in the board game and holds 100th place in the prestige BoardGameGeek ranking (which contains almost 50,000 games from around the world).

The graphics in the game are fantastic and game play is smooth. There is not a lot of action in the game—it is a thinking man’s game. To win, you need to deal with tiles you are dealt and figure out the best way to play them.
It has been 30 years of war and four armies are vying for control. The armies are the Moloch, Borgo, Hegemony, and Outpost (humans). Each army’s units have unique abilities. The game will walk you through a tutorial to help you learn the game. There is also an in game manual.
The game is turn based and allows up to 4 players (human or AI). There are 3 AI difficulty setting also. For each army there are board tiles and instant action tiles. The board tiles are your army’s units. Each tile will provide some info on their range, attack etc, so understanding the tiles will proof useful. The instant action tiles are tiles that can provide specific actions within the game.
I will not go into the specifics of the turn by turn action of the game but I will comment on the general game play. As I mentioned before, this is a thinking man’s game. You need to really understand the different units and how they attack to have any chance in the game. I would recommend you read over the manuals and study the units before you play. Jumping right into it can be fun but I found it a bit frustrating. Do I like the game, definitely. I enjoy games that strain the brain cells once in a while. You can easily pause the game and come back to it- a very nice feature.
A lite version of the game came out last month so if you are curious about the game and do not want to spend the dollar for the full version, you are in luck. The iOS version of the game recently got an update that added some new armies, we can only hope the Android version gets this update. So if you enjoy strategy games, Neuroshima Hex for Android is definitely one you need to try.
