It seems as though another emulator has bit the dust when it comes to the Android Market and it is another one by the one-man emulator show himself, Yongzh. However, this time, it wasn’t his doing as such was the case with the N64oid emulator which he took down recently after complaints and other issues surrounding it.

Last week Android’s first emulator for the Playstation got yanked off the Android Market due to content policy violations. The developer, ZodTTD, was unsure at the time as to what route he would go now that it was banned from the Android Market. It seems he has made his decision and it is now available for free.
As is expected this is a very early build but the developer did want to release this onto the Market and get some feedback. They are claiming that even in this early build the game runs quite a bit of games at decent speeds. From what we have researched so far, you’ll need a pretty decent/new Android device to run it though.
If you are an owner of the PSX4Droid ver.2 emulator which emulates Playstation games, you’ll be sad to know that it has been pulled off the Android Market due to, according to Google, violations regarding the Android Market content policies. Developer ZodTTD, however, is blaming the launch of the Xperia Play.
Back in January we broke the story that the FPse Playstation One emulator was heading to Android and that it would be available ‘in a few days’. As with all things, a few days turned into a couple of weeks but the good news is that you can head to the Android Market and download it now and get playing PS1 games!
Tiger King has developed 6 other emulators for Android, mostly geared around Gameboy devices and general Nintendo devices. His newest emulator, Tiger Lab, is in very early beta development but he has decided to release it as more of a Proof-of-Concept. Tiger Labs is a Nintendo DS emulator.
Windows Mobile users have been enjoying smooth PS1 emulation for a while now, while Android users are stuck with PSX4DROID(v2) which is notoriously buggy, and whose developer charges for updates. Developer Schtruck has promised Android support for his rock-solid emulator in “a few days.”
It seems like the Dreamcast Emulator, nullDC, which is being worked on by “drk || Raziel”, is making some steady progress. While still in the really early stages of development, the developers have gotten a couple of games to run on it. One of the games happens to be one that everyone wants to play, Crazy Taxi! Check out the video after the break.
It seems we don’t have enough emulators just yet for Andorid and developer “drk || Raziel” is working on curing that little issue with a Dreamcast Emulator for Android. Currently they have the nullDC BIOS booting on a Samsung Captivate which means actual games being playable should be possible in the very near future.
Emulators have progressed to all different kinds of systems thanks to the advances in technology. Everyone I know has a favorite console game that they wish could be portable, and until the day that it becomes portable, emulators will be the closest thing possible to that dream. Thankfully we have a decent selection of emulators on the Android market including this one for the Playstation 1.
