During Google I/O 2011 which just finished, word came out that there would be a Nexus 3 coming out by the end of this year. Also, Android’s newest OS version, Ice Cream Sandwich, will also be coming out at around that time. Now we have nVidia’s CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, hinting that the Nexus 3 could also be quad-core.

Asus already working on an Android tablet that will be sporting the Kal-El chipset. That’s quad-core in non-secret-code language.
Asus already has a couple of hits under their belts in the short time they have been in the tablet game and it looks like they are planning to ride that wave with some high-end hardware for their next batch of tablets. With one being dual-core and another sporting a Qualcomm chip coming out in the next month or two.
nVidia has been hitting the mobile multi-core scene pretty hard lately with Tegra 2 coming out in a fair amount of devices already and the announcement of the Tegra 3 quad-core chip at Mobile World Congress this year. After showing off a working unit at MWC 2011, we were hoping there would be one at GDC 2011 and there was!
Tegra 3 announced: nVidia brings it to MWC 2011 and shows it off working in Android devices already
Well not only a couple hours after we post about Tegra 3 possibly being announced at MWC 2011, it gets confirmed, displayed and shown off in a working Android device. nVidia also let loose their roadmap for future which, in 2 1/2 years time, nVidia plans to have a chip out that is 75x faster than the Tegra 2.
With the announcement of the Qualcomm/ARM quad-core chip at MWC 2011, it is looking like the processor battle is starting to hear up. Hot on the heels of that announcement, nVidia is apparently set to unveil the Tegra 3 chip tomorrow during MWC 2011 as well and thanks to that leaked timeline, we know so specs already.
Well we don’t have the onslaught of dual-core Tegra 2 Android devices available just yet for purchase that we saw at CES 2011, apparently nVidia is gearing up to possibly announce the Tegra 3 chip which will be a quad-core chip.
