Here’s a bit of trivia for you: before it came out, Jetpack Joyride was called Machine Gun Jetpack. We assume developer Halfbrick changed course because of the unsavory connotations of automatic weapons.
But the machine guns are clearly part of the game’s DNA, because it’s just gone into business with one of the machine gunniest games ever: Metal Slug.
The limited time Jetpack Joyride x Metal Slug crossover event will last for three weeks, and it sees various Metal Slug characters, vehicles, and so on making cameo appearances in Halfbrick’s classic casual auto-runner.
Those characters include Marco Rossi, Tarma Roving, Fio Germi, and more, while the vehicles on offer include the Slug Flyer, Slugnoid, and of course the Slug Tank.
There will be Metal Slug-specific IAPs, too, as well as unlockable costumes and jetpacks.
To get involved, download Jetpack Joyride for free right now on the Google Play Store.
