Connect2Media and HandyGames have gone into an agreement with GlobalFun regarding the distribution of their games following the developers recent announcement regarding liquidation. In the agreement Handy Games will publish Crazy Cats and UFO Afterlight exclusively on Android in most territories while Connect2Media will do the Israel and Egypt distribution.
As you may have read elsewhere the Android Market is set to get updated, including an outage for developers regarding the back-end starting Thursday, November 18th, 2010 at 10PM and ending Friday, November 19th, 2010 at 4AM PST. Well a new email just hit my inbox from the Android Market Team officially laying out the details of the update so far.
Like RPG games but not of the MMO variety? Prefer them in 3D? Well now you can play just that with a new game called Realms of Fortune. Developed by Gamaray LTD, Realms of Fortune strikes out past the typical 2D mold rogue-like RPG games stick to and offers up 3D graphics along with first-person style combat.
Angry Birds developer Rovio recently talked at the Virtual Goods Summit in London about future plans with their flagship game and something interesting came to light. While it is no surprise, and heavily reported on, that Angry Birds will be heading to consoles soon as well as a TV show and a movie, mention of a sequel came up.
A few days back we brought to light a game called SheepRun that had some strikingly similar user interface designs to that of Angry Birds by Rovio. Since then we have had many people mention that the level design was almost a complete copy of another Flash game called Home Sheep Home. SheepRun Beta is now not available on the Android Market.
Yesterday we mentioned that Pocket Legends is hosting a scavenger hunt where every day our little green mascot will be hiding somewhere in game and if you follow the Pocket Legends Twitter you will see a clue or two as to where he is. Once you find him, wave to him and win a pair of Android antennas. We also mentioned we had something else to giveaway!
Only about a week or so ago we reported on Sharp announcing that they would be releasing glasses-free 3D Android phones in Japan. Well news from Sharp today has the company announcing that they will also be bringing these 3D phones across the big blue puddle and will be made available here in the US in 2011.
Former Player X CEO and Co-Founder, Tony Pearce, who is also a veteran in the games industry has founded a new company called TeePee Games. What TeePee Games aims to do is help players find all the good games they can handle regardless of platform which means games across mobile smartphones, social sites (i.e. Facebook) and Flash games.
Papaya Mobile is certainly not slowing down any time soon it seems. Starting off with a few games, Papaya Mobile has developed into a social gaming force in the mobile scene coming out with an SDK, in-game payments system and now an easy-to-use game engine for Android developers to use to make Android games.
