About The Doomsday Mutation
When you catch something that has the Doomsday Mutation, they will turn a bright orange / gold colour. But more importantly, their value will increase by x4 more than their original price.
Catching creatures with the Doomsday Mutation and selling them for profit is a good way to get your hands on some extra cash, especially as a lot of the Ashfall Bestiary creatures sell for decent prices already.
How To Get The Doomsday Mutation
The only way to reel something in that has the Doomsday Mutation is by fishing during the Ashfall Event. This is the event that made Roslit Volcano erupt and had lava spill into the waters of Roslit Bay. It’s only available for a limited time, so make sure you’re quick!
Simply sail to Roslit Bay, where the water is orange from lava, and start fishing. However, you only have a 10% chance of catching something with this mutation.
There is one exception when it comes to the Doomsday Mutation, and that is Coelacanths. These are ocean creatures that are of rare rarity, and you have a 10% chance of catching one with this mutation no matter the location.
With most other mutations, you can visit the Appraiser NPC in Moosewood who will appraise your fish. This re-rolls the creature and any weight or mutations it has. However, this method won’t work to get the Doomsday Mutation… so you better get fishing!
