3D Puzzle Game Twisty Planets from Crescent Moon Games is Now Available to Download

Crescent Moon Games has been busy this week, and it is only Tuesday! Just in case you missed it, yesterday, a new Mobile Humble Bundle became available from Crescent Moon Games.  A few of the games are only available through that bundle, like: Exiles: Far Colony, The Deer God, 2-Bit Cowboy and Space Chicks. You should check that bundle out if you haven’t yet. There is a lot of gaming goodness that can be purchased for a small price, while at the same time, supporting charity and the developers. Today we have just been notified that their latest project, Twisty Planets, is available to download in the Play Store. It is a charming 3D puzzle game that will challenge your problem solving abilities.

Twisty Planets was developed by FirstSight Games. Their collaboration with Crescent Moon Games, has produced a puzzler, that in character, reminds me of Qbert, the arcade game from 1982. Granted, Qbert was only a 2D game, and the concept for Twisty Planets is quite different, their names are similar. In Twisty Planets, you have to help the main character Qub escape from the Twisty Planets. With a game mechanic that vaguely resembles rotating a Rubik’s Cube, with some platforming elements, you help Qub through 100 puzzles, with increasing difficulty.

“Welcome to Twisty Planets – a 3D Puzzle Game unlike any other. Help little fella Qub escape the twisty planets, find stars to open portals and escape! Navigate springboards, moving platforms, teleports and re-configurable planets to find the way out of the 3D planets. Watch out for the edges and don’t fal off! Can you find a way off the planets and into the next galaxy?” – Crescent Moon Games

Twisty Planet Features:

  • Awesome 3D graphics & game experience
  • 100 mind twisting levels
  • 5 different galaxies to explore
  • Unique 3D puzzle gameplay
  • Intuitive touch controls
  • Achievements, leaderboards, rewards and more
  • Hidden objects, rewards and Easter eggs

After an opening sequence that is wonderfully rendered with the adorable Qub, you immediately jump into puzzle solving, via the brief tutorial. Each level has three stars and a portal. You can swipe sideways, or up and down, to twist the planet, to see all of the stars. The goal is to grab the three stars, and get to the portal before time runs out. The first couple of levels seemed easy enough, but it doesn’t take long to figure out, that this is a 3D Puzzler that will challenge you. It is a good thing that serene music is provided, because it has a calming effect, while you are trying to figure out the best way to rotate the planet, and get to the stars in a minimum amount of time. Of course Qub falling off the planet happens quite a bit if you are not careful. That means you have to quickly plan your moves. The gameplay mechanics continue to evolve, as you delve further into the game, adding springs, moving platforms and a host of other tools to aid you on your journey. It is good puzzling fun, that will require some patience and foresight.

Twisty Planets is a free to play game with ads. The galaxies include: Hello World, High Grounds, Earth, Core and Tr0n. Galaxies auto-unlock as you play them through in sequence. You can also unlock some of them by simply viewing a 15 second video advert. All of the levels in High Grounds and Earth unlock this way. The other levels, Core and Tr0n have 3 preview levels each, unlocked by watching a video. You then have the option of purchasing them each for $.99, or buying them combined, for a lower price of $1.49. That’s it! There are no other in-app purchases for the game. The free-to-play model implemented in Twisty Planets seems extremely fair. I don’t mind paying for unlocking the remaining levels, because you get a fair amount of content in the game, without purchasing anything.

Twisty Planets is integrated with Google Game Play Services. There are 24 achievements to unlock and leaderboards present for you to climb. FirstSight Games has created an enjoyable puzzler that can be played by all of your family members. You will enjoy helping Qub on his journey to… well, we can’t tell you everything and spoil the story. What we can say is that Qub isn’t just visiting these Twisty Planets for nothing. Will you help Qub on his quest?
