The Archos Gamepad officially available in the U.S. for $179

One of the two gaming centric Android tablets has officially gone on sale now for $179. The Archos Gamepad is an Android tablet with a focus on gaming with physical gaming controls available on either side of the 7″ tablet which runs Android 4.1, otherwise known as Jelly Bean.

The 7″ tablet runs at a resolution of 1024×600, sports a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor, a Mali-400 MP GPU, 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. Gaming control-wise, this tablet comes with dual-joysticks (the black circles at the bottom of each side), a D-Pad (top left), 4 buttons (Top right) and shoulder buttons located at the very top edge. While it isn’t the most powerful tablet on the market right now, for the price range it is in, the Archos Tablet isn’t a weakling either.

We did go hands-on with the Archos Gamepad at CES 2013 where for the most part it felt like a decent little tablet for gaming. If you’ve been waiting to pick one of these up, you can do so now for $179.
