Nintendo has a job opening for a Mobile Games Developer position

Looks like Nintendo is starting to go full swing into their plans to bring some of their franchises to mobile devices soon as the company has posted a new job listing for a Mobile Games Developer position. Thanks to an agreement between Nintendo and DeNA, we will soon be getting some Nintendo franchises to play on our Android devices. Although, if you’ve been following our coverage about the whole partnership, Nintendo hasn’t really revealed what games will be coming to mobile, nor have they mentioned what franchises those will end up being a part of.

The new job listing doesn’t help with any of that either. The position is for a Software Engineer II – Mobile Game Developer over at Nintendo Software Technologies. This person will be working on future applications and games from Nintendo for both iOS and Android. In other words, you will need to know what you’re doing on both platforms, since you will be “developing games and applications using cross platform web technologies“. This person will also “play a key role in helping Nintendo build fun and engaging mobile applications and games as a member of NST’s game team“.

Interestingly enough, this doesn’t mean this person will be working on the announced five games that Nintendo has plans to release between now and early (April) 2017. What this does basically mean though is that this person will be working on technology to bring Nintendo’s announced plans for the future into life. This includes connecting mobile devices to dedicated hardware through an interconnected online system. One part of Nintendo’s plans is to have everything connected to each other, from their mobile games and applications to their upcoming console, and whatever else that falls under their umbrella.

Nintendo has already toyed around with mobile applications, and now they plan to bring some games to mobile devices as well. They already have also toyed with cross-platform HTML5 apps as well, and have hinted at other goodies like a Mii Maker application for mobile devices. Whatever this person ends up doing, it will play an important part in Nintendo’s future with mobile devices. You can also be sure that this position will be a hell of a lot of work, but it will be a hell of a lot of fun too.
