NY Comic Con sees Batman: Arkham Origins announced for Android, integrates with console version

So NY Comic Con happened over the weekend and during the event Warner Bros and DC Entertainment announced that Batman: Arkham Origins would be making its way to mobile devices in the near future. Not only will the game be arriving onto Android and iOS soon, you’ll be able to unlock additional suits in the console version of the game when playing the mobile version.

For those of you not familiar with this game, Batman: Arkham Origins starts off with the Black Mask offering up a big payout to anyone who can bring down Batman. This makes all the villains who think they can take down Batman come out of the wood work and since you will be controlling Batman, you’ll be fighting the likes of other villains such as Bane throughout Gotham City.

The game is being developed by NetherRealm Studios using Unreal Engine 3 so we can expect to see some pretty solid visuals when the game is released. Even though this is an action/brawler style of game, there also happens to be some RPG elements layered onto it for addition customization of your Batman. As you progress through the game you’ll be unlocking addition Batman suits which you can equip. Each suit will grant your character different advantages, immunity from certain things and stat boosts.

Speaking of the Batman suits, some of the different styles that will be available in the mobile game will be exclusive to mobile. Since you can link up the console version of Batman: Arkham Origins with the mobile one, if you already have certain suits unlocked in the console version then you’ll have them available already in the mobile edition. This also works in the opposite direction as well. There will be a huge amount of content in this game and as for the controls, there will be plenty of customizable options available to make playing Batman: Arkham Origins easier on mobile.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be a free-to-play game so downloading it when the game is released won’t cost you a penny. Some suits will be available for purchase through IAPs though. This is only for the impatient people though who don’t want to unlock all the suits over time as they play the game. Everything will be available though to players who don’t want to spend any money.

As for when this game will be released onto mobile, there is no specific release date announced just yet but the console version is launching worldwide on October 25th, 2013 and the iOS version is slated for release at around the same time. The Android version will be release somewhere near the upcoming holiday season.
