Pine Hearts has arrived on mobile today. The game was developed by Hyper Luminal Games and first released on PC and Switch. On mobile, it’s published by Secret Mode, the makers of A Little to the Left. It’s a wholesome hiking adventure inspired by the Scottish Highlands.
Nostalgic journeys, overcoming loss, and helping others…
The game is a cosy and reflective experience. It follows Tyke, a character revisiting the Pine Hearts Caravan Park where he spent childhood holidays. The setting draws from the Cairngorms and lets you wander through woodland paths, explore mysterious caves, and investigate castle ruins.
You also get to splash through rockpools and play on the beach. Tyke works through the loss of his father while tackling the mountain his father never managed to climb.
Quests are as lighthearted and quirky. You’ll be doing stuff like judging a vegetable competition, conducting a brass band, rescuing stray bees, and helping a ghost. Other tasks include rebuilding a whale-watching boat, setting camera traps to catch a monster, and unearthing Viking treasure.
Along the way, you can pet dogs, pat crabs, and enjoy small reflective pauses like sitting on benches to take in the scenery. New abilities gradually open up blocked areas and shortcuts across the map.
The narrative unfolds gradually through five memory clips, short but impactful moments from Tyke’s journey. On that note, catch a glimpse of the beautiful Pine Hearts below.
True to its name, Pine Hearts leans into warmth and kindness
To mark today’s launch, Secret Mode is giving away Pine Hearts merchandise. One lucky winner will take home items like a T-shirt, beanie, and mug. Details on how to enter are on the Pine Hearts X account.
The game comes with extensive accessibility options. You get simplified controls, visual FX toggles, font scaling, high-contrast and colour-blocking modes, and full input remapping.
The free trial offers around 20-25 minutes of exploration across Reflection Point and the Campsite. The full version unlocks as a one-time purchase for $4.99. So, check it out on the Google Play Store.
