Splashtop Remote Desktop THD finally released for Tegra 3 Android devices

One application we have been waiting for since CES 2012 is the Tegra 3 optimized version of Splashtop Remote Desktop. Appropriately named Splashtop THD, this is for Tegra 3 only devices and, if you remember our coverage of CES 2012, allowed us to play Skyrim on a Transformer Prime tablet.

Splashtop THD will allow you to stream audio and video from your PC or Mac to your Android devices. It will also let you use pretty much any program you have on your PC through your Android quad-core device. The best part is though, you are able to play PC games streamed from your computer to your Tegra 3 device. This is something we predicted would happen on Android over a year ago so it is good to see it coming to life.

Splashtop THD Features:

* Play graphic-intensive games on your tablet with optimized gesture
* Fully access your applications on your tablet such as PowerPoint, Keynote, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
* Watch videos / Flash content streamed from your computer in any format
* Listen to music on your computer in any format
* Access your full computer browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) including your bookmarks, favorite plug-ins, and extensions (Flash, Java, etc.)

Before grabbing this, loading up Skyrim or whatever PC game you want to play on your tablet, you will have to own a strong PC in order to accomplish this. Granted if you are running any of these games are any decent setting then you already probably have one. Splashtop THD has a gamepad onscreen which is used and optimized to play PC games like Skyrim on the Transformer Prime as well as future Tegra 3 quad-core devices.

Aside from having a quad-core Android device, you will also need to be running Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). As of right now that is the only supported operating system. If you don’t want to use touchscreen controls for your gaming you can always use an actual gamepad which is what we saw in a beta version of Splashtop THD at CES 2012. If you have been waiting for this to arrive, you can now jump over to the Android Market and nab it for $6.99.
