The Toshiba Excite 13 is the largest Android tablet we’ve seen in a while

Bigger really does mean better for the folks at Toshiba. The company recently announced a few new tablets that will be released starting in May. Toshiba will have the normal 7.7 and 10-inch Excite tablets, but it will also sell another tablet with a massive 13.3-inch screen on June 10 for $649.99 (32GB).

This giant of a tablet is called the Toshiba Excite 13. Out of all the things on this tablet, that screen has to be the most shocking. The general public has gotten used to 10.1-inches being the largest option available for tablets. Toshiba believes it can tap into another type of customer that is looking for something more like a small handheld HDTV than a regular tablet.

The Gorilla Glass display on the Toshiba Excite 13 will have a resolution of 1600×900 that should make experiencing HD content quite enjoyable. The body of the tablet weights 2.2 pounds and is 0.4-inches thin. The hardware is complemented by the inclusion of Android 4.0, and is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

Here are some more specs:

– 5 megapixel rear camera
– 2 megapixel front camera
– 1GB of RAM
– 4 speaker surround sound
– 13 hour battery life
– 7 days of standby battery life
– SD card slot
– Micro USB port
– Micro HDMI port

For your money, you’re basically getting a top of the line Android tablet as far as specs go. However, $649 for the 32GB model or $749.99 for the 64GB model will likely be far too expensive for most people.
