BAFTA award-winning title TOEM: A Photo Adventure is coming to mobile devices globally. Developed by Swedish indie studio Something We Made, pre-registration for TOEM is now live on Android. The official release date set for October 22nd.
By the way, the game was already out in early access in the US in June this year. It was first released in September 2021 on Windows, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. Although published by Something We Made on these platforms, Snapbreak is the publisher for mobile.
What’s the setting?
TOEM: A Photo Adventure takes you on a journey with a small photographer traveling through Scandinavian-inspired towns and landscapes. You progress by collecting stamps, which you earn by helping NPCs with different requests.
Sometimes, they might ask you to track down animals, solve quirky puzzles, or snap just the right photo. Once you collect enough stamps, you can hop on the bus and move to the next location. And thus, you continue the trek toward the mysterious natural event known as TOEM.
While every NPC offers something to do, not all tasks are required to progress. There are more stamps available than strictly needed, so you can choose between tackling everything for 100% completion or simply helping enough characters to move forward.
TOEM: A Photo Adventure is now open for pre-registration
The world in TOEM is in a black-and-white, hand-drawn art style. It also includes accessories, clothes, and gadgets as rewards, letting you personalise your character.
The game has many creative mechanics. For instance, it shifts between a top-down exploration view and a first-person camera mode. That definitely adds to the sense of immersion.
Once it drops, you can try a free demo of the game, while unlocking the full game costs $7.99. If you’re interested, you can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store.
