Now games and applications are starting to appear on the Google Play store for $0.25 to kick things off. It isn’t just applications and games though, there will be special 25-themed packs of music, books, magazines and more.

If you remember back near the end of 2011 the Google Play store crossed the 10 billion download threshold for overall downloads of apps and games. When that happened, Google put on a ten day sale which featured new games and applications on sale for $0.10 each day. Well it looks like that will become a reality starting today to celebrate passing 25 billion downloads.
Back in June of this year a neat little retro-style game arrived on Android after receiving the porting treatment from it’s developers who originally released the game on Xbox Live. Developed by Nostalgic Software, Quiet, Please! is a rather interesting little game that is now available for those of you with access to the Amazon AppStore as today’s free app of the day.

Great Big War Game by Rubicon Development is another title in a line of charming turn-based strategy games that is simple to learn but packs many hours of entertainment. Sure, these tiny little soldiers are adorable to look at but killing is their business and business is often pretty darn good. You start out by passing through a series of basic tutorials but soon enough find yourself within the thick of it for real. The enemy can be hidden by a fog of war but, if you’re like me and prefer to have it terribly easy at first, there is an optional toggle that lights up the entire battlefield. After I got used to the game I meant to turn it back on, I really did, but I was having too much fun to notice. I’m not much of a warrior, obviously.
