Last night Nvidia began pushing out a new OTA update for their Nvidia Shield Tablet which will bring Android 5.0.1 Lollipop to owners of said tablet. There is actually quite a lot of enhancements that will arrive once you have 5.0.1 installed including live HD effects for the camera, SHIELD power control and memory optimizations.

We have been following the progress of the Lollipop update since it was announced that the Nvidia Shield Tablet would be the first commercial product outside of the new Nexus series of devices that would be receiving the new Android OS. Well the update is right on time and is now being pushed out to Nvidia Shield owners.
If you are not yet sold on getting an Nvidia Shield Tablet for your Android gaming needs, this morning Nvidia began teasing on Twitter that there are a bunch of new features coming to their tablet, the biggest one being Android 5.0 Lollipop.
So the Google I/O 2012 companion application just landed on the Google Play store and now because of one screenshot in the listing, speculation has risen up to the idea that the UI in this particular screenshot could actually be a preview of the upcoming version of Android codenamed Jelly Bean.
We don’t usually post rumors and honestly this one is a bit farfetched but according to a supplier tipster that tipped off DigiTimes, Google is contacting hardware partners, encouraging them to consider new tablets and phones that will run Android 5.0.
