What an interesting 24hours it has been regarding Sony and the Playstation Network. Sony held a press conference early this morning to announce officially their two upcoming Android tablets, codenamed the S1 and S2. Both will be Playstation certified. This afternoon, Sony finally came clean about what happened to the PSN as well.
Guinness World Records has embraced the gaming sphere a lot more over the past few years including even coming out with a Gamer’s Edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. Today they announced a new application for Android based around the Gamer’s Edition of World Records called the Gamer’s Edition Arcade.
Hyrum Fairbanks’ love of gaming cost him his job, but that’s ok. In less than a year, he went from working a thankless job at a gas company to spearheading his Salt Lake City-based cottage industry making gaming on smart phones much less tedious. We are not going to go over all the accessories available for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet that is slated to be released as soon as next month here in the USA. VDC (Verizon Developer Community) Conference just ended and we happen to attend it looking for any little tidbits of information that we could find. Recently we broke news about a job listing over at Sony Playstation for a Senior Server Engineer and had one of the requirements listed as “Experience in Mobile Development, Specifically Android a plus”. Well it seems that after we broke the story and word spread to numerous sites, Sony got wind and has changed the actual job listing!
Are you trying to develop a game by yourself or with a small group of people but don’t have the $1500-3000 for that sweet commercial developer kit you’ve been wanting. Well there are some alternatives and one is the newly released Corona Game Edition SDK by Ansca Mobile which offers cross-platform game development including for Android.
Polarbit are known for their great 3D games for Android which including Raging Thunder 1 and 2, Toon Warz, and Fuzzies. Their latest release, with partner Fabrication Games, breaks away from their standard action 3D game mold and brings a puzzle game to Android instead. This is a matching 3 (or more) of the same object puzzle game with a pirate theme.
The hits keep on rolling it seems as every day lately you find an iOS developer has brought their game over to Android as well. This time it is yet another extremely popular iOS game called Hungry Shark by developer Future Games of London or FGOL for short. This is a great game where you are a shark and your job is to eat…everything…alive.
This isn’t entirely new news nor is it anything groundbreaking since EA has been involved with deploying some of their games onto the Android platform so not a huge need to post about it right away. In case you haven’t read this already on one of the many other Android sites reporting on this bit of info, it seems EA is ready to make a strong solid commitment to Android.
