Today Nvidia has announced a new version of their gaming-centric Android Shield tablet. This new version comes in at a lower price point than the original Shield Tablet, and all the hardware that the original came with. Well almost all the hardware. There are a few small differences between the two tablets.

The other day when Nvidia finally admitted to the 500GB model of the Nvidia Shield Android TV console actually existing and being real for consumers to purchase soon, one other tidbit of information was revealed as well. This was that the Android 5.1 update for the Shield tablet would be arriving soon, before the launch of the Shield console unit. Well it appears that ‘soon’ has turned out to be today.
Yesterday we reported on Nvidia’s upcoming Shield Tablet and the massive leak that basically unofficially announced the new device along with pricing, hardware specs and pretty much everything else related to it. Today is the official announcement from Nvidia themselves along with all the details, pricing and launch date information as well.
Nvidia today finally unveiled their Tegra Note which is a reference device that shows off their Tegra 4 platform. What this does is allow manufacturers to offer the Tegra 4 platform to create 7″ tablets for as little as $200. Basically this means manufacturers can use this tablet as a starting point, enabling them to quickly bring their own branded 7″ tablet to market much more quickly by using this one as the base model.

The large online games portal Big Fish Games have released their streaming service which we talked about back in July of this year. Back during CES 2012 Toshiba busted out a rather large 13″ Android tablet that, for the most part, was mostly just a concept product at the time. The 13″ Toshiba Excite tablet at the time was the biggest Android tablet until now. ViewSonic has begun teasing a new 22″ Android tablet that will be coming with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).
