Earlier this week we provided a lot of coverage on nVidia’s latest mobile chipset that is the Tegra 4. Now we would like to share with you what Qualcomm has in store for us – two new next-generation mobile processors known as the Snapdragon 800 and 600 respectively. What’s really special about both these processors is their insane clock speed – 1.9GHz in the case of the 600 and a whopping 2.3GHz in the case of the 800.

Probably one of the biggest or most surprising announcements this CES was nVidia’s Project Shield which, if you missed the announcement, is their Android-based portable gaming system that not only runs Android games (THD or other) but also PC games streamed from your PC.
With Tegra 4 on the way in the very near future, games are already being development for nVidia’s new chipset such as Dead Trigger 2, Arma Tactics, Aliens vs Predators and more. So naturally some of you wanted us to ask about backwards compatibility for Tegra 3 devices with these new Tegra 4 games.
Today is the first official day of CES 2013 as the showroom floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center and surrounding hotels become a mad house of people trying to fondle every gadget under the sun, interview people while other people try to eavesdrop on said interview, feet being stepped on, shoulder checks and backpacks swinging freely, and all the other good stuff we’ve come to love when trending through the see of people rushing everywhere.
From Nintendo to Sega and from Sony to Capcom, thanks in part to emulation, Android has allowed gamers to revisit (or discover) classic retro games. We’ve been enjoying old consoles games since the dawn of G1, and outdated graphics and lack of controllers aside, they’ve run almost perfectly close as originally released.
nVidia had a lot to say this year during their press conference which was one of the longer ones we’ve ever attended. Along with their announcement of Tegra 4, which is now official, and Project Shield, there portable Android gaming system, and showcasing some of the upcoming Tegra 4 games like Dead Trigger 2. Also announced was nVidia’s GRID, their answer to improving cloud gaming.
We got to see a sneak peek at Madfinger Games’ upcoming sequel Dead Trigger 2 for Tegra 4 devices last night during the nVidia press conference. Well now the developers have released more details about the game which we will surely be getting a hands-on with in the next day or so. If the preview we saw last night was any indications, this isn’t going to be like the Dead Trigger you know right now.
It seems like Asphalt 7: Heat only just came out yesterday, but Gameloft isn’t resting on their laurels and are already into the deep development stage for the next game in the series, titled Asphalt 8: Infinity. We actually already knew of the existence of this game when Gameloft’s entire 2013 line-up was leaked, but now there’s in-game footage and a leaked developer’s diary to confirm everything.
Plenty of Tegra 4 news will be happening this week as you probably have already guessed from this morning alone, but it seems that Vizio will be the first company to have a Tegra 4 Android tablet, or at least announce one. They even have an early version of the tablet here at CES for all of us to fondle relentlessly.
Last night during the nVidia press conference it was all about gaming except for perhaps 1% which focused on photos. One of their announcements which caught a lot of people off guard was that nVidia has been working on their own portable entertainment system (let’s be real though, it’s all about gaming) called Project Shield. This little package of awesome will sport a Tegra 4 chipset and pure Android, as in no crappy secondary UI layered over it.
