So GDC 2011 is almost upon us with a measly 5 days before it starts. There is going to be a ton of gaming news going on and that includes Android gaming news! We will be heading out to San Francisco the evening of Feb. 28th, 2011 and we will be there for the entire conference! We have lots lined up already.
Indie game developers can qualify for some pretty awesome programs these days thanks to other major developers offering up programs to help the indie guys out. MocoSpace is another one getting into the developer helping arena with their new million dollar developer fund for HTML5 mobile game developers.

One of our favorite Tower Defense games just got a huge update with two new campaigns: Oregon and Dakota. Well it seems as though Rovio isn’t wanting to wait for in-game purchases to be fully integrated into their game via their Bad Piggy Bank. Instead they are going to be releasing a new version of Angry Birds without ads for a small price. According to a tweet, Rovio will have this ready within a month’s time, right near the Rio version’s launch.
There are only a few good pinball games available on the Android Market and after awhile they do get kind of boring. Pinball Deluxe is the new kid on the block when it comes to pinball games and offers up some great graphics and lots of true pinball action. It also comes with some other features not yet seen in any other pinball game for Android.

Well you’ll be pleased to hear that future taxis will be fitted with rockets… and they’ll be inter-galactic speed machines! This is great news especially if you need to pick up some groceries on Mars.
Not too long ago a little game called Let’s Create! Pottery got released onto the iPad and has since become extremely popular on the App store. Developers of Let’s Create! Pottery, Infinite Dreams Inc., have now released a version for all the Android gamers out there who have wanted to play this but can’t since it was only for iOS.
According to numerous sites both in the media and ones that sell mobile devices, the apparent launch date for public sale for the Xperia Play will be March 28, 2011. While this is a little over a month away still, some sites already have the unlocked edition of the Xperia Play up for pre-order but the prices are all over the place.
Big news coming from the crew responsible for the awesome PC game Minecraft. According to Kotaku who spoke with Head of Business Development, Daniel Kaplan, that they will be porting the game to Android and iOS. A lot of people have been waiting in hopes that this would happen and now it will be.
