Google Play on occasion promotes apps and games of different stripes for different reasons. Sometimes they are seasonal or have a purpose, like the summer sale that is currently happening, others are arbitrary. Currently, there’s a promotion going on for games that can be played offline.

The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land is an upcoming mobile game for Android that will be released alongside the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead Season 5. Set in the TV continuity of The Walking Dead, as opposed to TellTale’s game which takes place in the comic book universe, there wasn’t really much revealed in the cinematic trailer for the game other than that there will be zombies. Go figure.
Two days before its intended launch, Modern Combat 5 was leaked to gamers everywhere via torrent. Gameloft is understandably livid. In a perhaps futile effort to stem the tide of users illegally acquiring the game because of the lack of an official launch, Gameloft rushed to push the game’s release ahead by one day.
Chess is one of the more popular strategy games that have stood the test of time. It is an amusing sight to see two individuals huddled over a board as the chess pieces are slowly pulled off, one at a time, and set aside as a testament to each individual’s skill and prowess. Pure Chess by developer VooFoo Studios and publisher Ripstone have made it possible to make it even easier to take your game of chess with you wherever you go and you don’t have to worry about losing any of the pieces.
Square Enix, the company that makes all the Final Fantasy games we know and love, has put a few of their highly priced (and prized, if you ask me) games on sale. Normally, these games come in around $15 or $16 dollars, two of their offerings are now being sold for 50% off of their normal price.
I’m sure some of you may be puzzled by this… I was. Batman: Arkham Origins showed up in the Play Store a few weeks ago. However, it said that it wasn’t compatible with my devices. I was kind of bummed out by this because I finally have devices that can run it graphically. So, like I do with most games that I want to play that may be in a soft launch or have exclusivity with a particular device, I added it to my wish list.
Coming Soon to Android: Light in the Dark by Dreamgate Studios – Physics, Puzzles and Color Blending Fun
Dreamgate Studios has released a charming and witty trailer for their first game release Light in the Dark. It will arrive in the Play Store later this year in September. With a nod to Indiana Jones in the trailer and colorful graphics akin to Cut the Rope, Dreamgate Studios has crafted what a mix of physics and color blending mechanics to puzzle your brain.
TwitchTV recently pushed out an update for their Android application which brings with it a completed new design for the app’s user interface. This marks the first major overhaul since the release of the app. This new user interface is much more easier to navigate but aside from that it is also a hell of a lot more improved visually.
King of Fighters 98: Dream Match Never Ends was a 2D fighting game release in (surprise!) 1998 by SNK. Originally released on the Neo Geo, it later was ported to the PlayStation as well as the Dreamcast. What makes this fighting game unique is that it contains all the fighters from releases that came prior to this one, including those that had died in their story arc (which was rebooted with the subsequent release).
The Android rendition of Injustice: Gods Among US received a large (in scale) update adding online multiplayer among other enhancements. The addition of multiplayer on its own makes this game a lot better in some ways, giving it much more replay value.
