Nvidia’s New Device May Be A Hybrid Of PC And Mobile Gaming

Nvidia Shield 2 rumors have been reported on DroidGamers among many other sites. The newest rumor is that Nvidia is working on something that will connect to TVs via an HDMI cable. While the Nvidia Shield is capable of this, the new device would require an additional controller, which is in line with the recent Shield Tablet rumors. However the controller is said to be a budget controller, though personally I hope they don’t sacrifice too much in the way of usability and comfort for the sake of giving the lowest price possible.

Android TV is Google’s newest journey into your living room

Yesterday Google announced and previewed a new product called Android TV. Android TV is coming soon, both in set top box form, as well natively integrated in television sets. Among its other features like search and voice input, it is also capable of playing games. Google mentioned that this isn’t a new platform, so much as they’re now going to give televisions the same level of attention as phones and tablets, and there should now be a single SDK for all form factors, including TVs. This should allow developers to create games that play on Android TV with relative ease.

Android One is the newly announced platform for emerging markets

The Google I/O Keynote yesterday brought the announcement of Android One. Android One is a new platform, targeting emerging markets, where Google will create affordable smartphones, in order to help makers of smartphones who face the issues of the endless stream of upgraded phones that come out every year. It is a reference program that will allow manufacturers to easily choose what they want included in their smartphones to keep prices low.

The Amazon Fire Phone Is Finally Unveiled

Amazon is entering the smartphone business with the Amazon Fire Phone. Running on their custom  3.5.0 Fire OS which is Android but  heavily altered, the Fire Phone has a set of new features to set itself apart from other phones on the market. With a 4.7 HD display, the Fire Phone’s processor is a 2.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. In layman’s terms, it is very powerful.

Google Glass May Get International Launch at Google I/O 2014

Google I/O 2014 is coming up soon, June 25 and 26 in San Francisco, and one of Google’s most experimental products, Google Glass, may be getting an international release announced there. This rumor comes from Phandroid, their anonymous source says it will at least launch in the UK. They also found evidence in an apk file that comes with Google Glass’s firmware that it may be coming to Japan, Japanese voice commands were found.

Virtual Reality with the Oculus Rift is Still Coming to Mobile Devices, But it is Being “Held Back” With a Focus on “Polishing It”

The Oculus Rift was at one point solely focused on gaming. Since the company behind it, Oculus VR, was purchased by Facebook things have changed with social media playing a role in its future along with games. There are still plans to bring the Oculus Rift to mobile devices, as in Android devices.  When questioning Oculus VP of Product Nate Mitchel on their concern that mobile devices would not provide the power the Rift needs, and would provide a sub-par experience he had some positive statements to give on its future with Android products.
