Zynga is having some troubles these days when it comes to making money and unfortunately some of their recent acquisitions are going to be suffering for this with the first one being OMGPop. Zynga has closed down OMGPop and terminated the employment of pretty much everyone from the company already. The ones who are still there have a choice to train Zynga employees on what to do over the next two month or leave now. If they leave, their severance packages will, unfortunately, be slashed as well.
Apparently OMGPOP, the developers behind the original Draw Something game, have decided to give Ryan Seacrest (of all people) the first preview copy for an upcoming sequel to OMGPOP’s hit game. The sequel, officially and appropriately titled Draw Something 2, is apparently heading our way soon and we can thank Ryan Seacrest for announcing it through his Twitter account.
Interesting news coming out today over the recent Zynga acquisition (which cost them $210 million) of OMGPOP and their hit game Draw Something. It seems as though, since the acquisition of OMGPOP, that Draw Something has seen a steady decline in daily usage and it is no small number.
It seems as though Draw Something, the hit game from OMGPOP, keeps popping up in the news today. Instead of comparing it with future buy-out for Zynga though, this new bit of news is about an update that just got pushed out onto the Google Play store.
Big companies just love to flog the little guys with their money these days. Some recent examples of this would be Facebook flogging Instagram with a billion dollars and Zynga’s purchase of OMGPOP for $180 million. Now Zynga is saying that we should all expect more deals like the OMGPOP buy-out in the near future.
It seems like everyone loves getting in touch with their inner Picasso. Since it launch in February developer OMGPOP’s Pictionary-style game has reached over 50 million downloads in basically 50 days. Now officially the fastest selling mobile game in history, it has surpassed Rovio’s latest game, Angry Birds: Space.
