Interesting news today coming from Google who has confirmed yesterday’s rumor regarding the modular smartphone project called Project Ara. The rumor going around was that the project was dead, and Google confirmed this today, although it is actually suspended and not so much dead.

You may remember last week when it was reported that Google’s modular Android phone called Project Ara was being ‘recalculated’ and that there was a possible change in plans coming to the project. The Project Ara Twitter account, where all of this was originally announced, also stated that we can expect more updates to arrive this week. Those updates have begun and the first one is that the release of Project Ara is being delayed till sometime in 2016.

After a somewhat long period of silence Google’s Project Ara Twitter account sprang to life yesterday with a few tweets updating everyone with what is going on with the project. As it turns out, the news wasn’t the best we could have had, but it wasn’t the worst either.
You may not have heard of a company called Yezz and that’s probably because they are kind of a small company lurking in the shadows of the mobile industry, at least here in the United States. They are a bit more well-known over in Europe. The company deals with producing phones and tablets for Android, Windows, and Firefox. Since they are already in the hardware business, Yezz has announced that they will start developing and producing modules for Google’s Project Ara.
If you are watching the second developer conference for Project Ara then you probably heard this announcement. For those of you who are not watching, Google has unveiled a new prototype for Project Ara called the Spiral 2 and it features a 3G modem, 11 additional modules, and other goodies.
Google’s modular solution for Android devices, called Project Ara, has its own developer conference and today marks the second one of these to be held. The really good thing about this is that if you can’t attend it, which if you are reading this then you probably are not attending, it will be streamed live and you can watch it right here.
Not too long ago Google announced that they were indeed working on a modular phone which was called Project Ara. At that time there was not real date as to when we would see this phone hit the market so consumers could purchase it. Well word is that we will see this modular phone hitting stores sometime next year in January.
