Every so often we have to issue one of these PSA (public service announcement) notices about either a developer offering up a ridiculous amount of fake apps and games or about the fake apps and games themselves. Usually these fake apps and games are either laced with malware or try to get unfortunately people who think they have the correct game or app installed to dish out money for it.

Back in late December of last year we posted a PSA (Public Service Announcement) regarding a developer going by the name of ‘apkdeveloper’ who was ripping off people’s games and apps and re-uploading as their own but layered with ads and god only knows what else. Well shortly after that article and a few other sites posted about it, apkdeveloper was shut down on Google Play. Unfortunately they are back under a new name.
From time to time some ass hat has to go ripping off other peoples work in order to further their idiotic attempt at infecting as many Android devices with malware as they can. It is one of the drawbacks we have to deal with once in awhile with having an open market place and usually things are pretty decent. A newly found developer going by the name of ‘apkdeveloper’ however who is trying to do exactly that.

Over the past couple of days we have been reporting on some security issues that have arisen since around Oct. 10th. 2011 where first it affected the Gameloft Live Website and has since escalated into accounts being hacked for their MMORPG Order & Chaos. Well we have received official word about the breach from Gameloft.
While everyone is concerned with the current security breach and account hacks happening with Gameloft’s MMORPG called Order & Chaos, we thought it might be a good idea to bring some good news about the game for a change while we wait for Gameloft to get back to us about all the security stuff.
Order & Chaos MMORPG from Gameloft suffering from security issues regarding player accounts getting hacked.
Yesterday we received a tip about some pretty interesting news regarding the Order & Chaos MMORPG from Gameloft. While we will talk specifically about this news regarding Android, be aware that this affects accounts across all platforms the game is being played on. It seems as though there are some security issues that are leading to players having their accounts hacked.
In the latest update to Pocket Legends, Spacetime Studios added a new permission which was the ‘Read Contacts Data’ permission. This was because Spacetime Studios implemented a new feature into the game through the Nexus hub which allowed players to refer a friend to the game and in turn earn Platinum, the in-game currency.
Back in the beginning of September our hardware nut, Shamus, wrote about CIQ services and how HTC is using them to watch everything you do and collect that data. Well XDA has done further digging into this and found even more information on what CIQ and HTC are doing.
XDA has once again brought to light information that a company would rather keep hidden. The most recent update to your phone includes software that lets HTC watch your every move. Sensation 4G and EVO 3D seem to be affected and now HTC has responded. Is HTC legally liable for following the coordinates of your every screen touch, the current position of your phone and more?
