While the newer Nvidia Shield K1 Tablets already come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the original Shield tablet has been waiting patiently to match its brother in OS version. Today marks the first day that Nvidia has begun pushing out an OTA update for the original Shield Tablets to get their Marshmallow goodness as well.
Adventure game fans, take note: One of the genre’s best specimens, Grim Fandango Remastered, is now available on Nvidia’s Shield family of devices including the Shield Android TV via Nvidia’s cloud-based game streaming service GeForce Now.
Nvidia, maker of a the Shield Android TV unit, Shield tablet, and the Shield Portable, also offer games that take direct advantage of their hardware, either linking to Google Play, or offering them through their own through streaming service called GeForce Now. With the latter, any purchase of premium priced games from there is also accompanied by a Steam code, for offline play. Through the end of this month, there’s a small group of games that NVidia has placed on sale.
A couple of days ago we hinted at hosting a giveaway that was going to be pretty epic in the next 24hrs. Well we are a bit later than 24hrs, but you can blame CES 2016 for that. Speaking of which, we have a ton of stuff to post already from the show, so expect a lot of posting over the next few days. Regardless of that, we did want to get this out now because this giveaway is pretty awesome.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a third-person action game set in the Metal Gear universe, is a must-play entry in the award-winning espionage series now available on Shield Android TV. It’s Metal Gear and as we know from previous experience, every new chapter in the franchise brings something new to the story, and when it comes to Revengeance it also brings a whole lot more to the gameplay.
This year Nvidia is holding their press conference tonight at 6PM PST, and you can watch it live in numerous places including right here. Last year’s press conference and overall show for Nvidia focused a lot on the automotive industry and Nvidia products for it. So what’s in store for this year?
If for some reason you didn’t snag a Shield Android TV during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or for Christmas, then you still have an opportunity to grab one on sale from Gamestop for a limited time. Their sale features the unit itself, along with the free remote promotion, and a free game as well.
Not to be left out of the holiday sales fun, Nvidia has put a slew of Shield and GeForce Now games on sale for the Christmas season. In total there are 10 games native to the Nvidia Shield that have been discounted for 50% off, and additionally there are four GeForce Now games also on sale.
If you own one of Nvidia’s newly released Shield Tablet K1 units, and you saw yesterday’s news of the Marshmallow update arriving for that particular tablet, then you are probably aware that Fallout Shelter arrived with this particular update. Now that you have this game installed on your tablet, Nvidia is giving away some in-game goodies for Fallout Shelter players using the Shield K1 tablet.
Last week we reported on Nvidia who had begun teasing some features for the upcoming Marshmallow (Android 6.0) update for the company’s recently released Shield K1 tablet. Well today that update has begun rolling out to owners of the K1 tablet, which means we can now see the full changelog.
