Google hosts a Player Appreciation sale for this Thanksgiving weekend

Google is hosting another sale only this time there are no $0.10 or $0.25 games for you to pick up. Instead this Thanksgiving weekend has Google listing a selection of titles that have rather large discounts happening inside of them. We say ‘inside of them’ because almost everything in the list is a free-to-play game supported through in-game purchases, so the sale is in regards to in-game currency packages and other IAPs available within those games.

This will be the first MOBA game to hit mobile devices and it does look promising.

GREE has also done what a few other developers have decided to do in the past and start a new developer account on Google Play with a slight variation of their name. Square Enix did it, EA has done it, and now GREE has done it as well. So even though this game shows up as the only game GREE has released onto Android, that is not true. It is just the first game under that account.

I’ve got about a 50/50 chance that the game will be pretty good, and a very tiny chance of the game being magnificent. The problems with unoriginality and repeated design that have plagued MMORPGs and social games have infected mobile gaming as well. The simple truth is that most designers know more about coding than they do about making an original product that is also fun.
