Best New Android Games, Updates, and Sales: Missile Command: Recharged, Monument Valley 2, Call of Duty Mobile, and More

Never before in the field of human conflict have so many housebound gamers owed so much to so few mobile game developers. In this trying time, the Google Play store has been a lifeline.

As ever, we’ve rounded up the latest new games and updates right here in this article that you’re presently reading. As of last week, we’re also bunging in a section on free and discounted games. Enjoy!

New Games

Bleach: Immortal Soul

Bleach is a popular anime series about a teenager (what else?) who suddenly gains powers and responsibilities of a Soul Reaver. This mobile game spin-off lets you relive the show’s most significant moments in gacha RPG fashion.

Missile Command: Recharged

Missile Command: Recharged is to the 40-year-old Missile Command what Space Invaders Infinity Gene and Pac-Man Championship Edition were to their respective sources: a slick, stylish, neon-drenched update of a timeless classic.

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Romping home with this week’s Longest and Most Unwieldy Title Award is Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a tactical RPG with PvP battles, dungeons, and a generous serving of Final Fantasy goodness.

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

Unveiled almost a year ago at E3 2019, Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad is a 5v5 turn-based strategy game featuring slick, stylised visuals and a host of characters from the Ubisoft stable, including Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. Sadly it’s confined to the Philippines for now.

Disney Sorcerer’s Arena

Developed by Glu, Disney Sorcerer’s Arena is a fairly run-of-the-mill gacha RPG with a truly stellar cast of Pixar and Disney heroes. That means everyone from Mickey Mouse to Anger from Inside Out.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game began life is a mini-game in the excellent The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It proved so popular that it merited its very own game, which is available on PC, consoles, and mobile, and playable cross-platform.

Reventure

Reventure is one of the most popular and interesting indie games of 2019. It sees you venturing out into a blocky, 3D world on an adventure with 100 different endings. The goal is to experience them all.

Updates

Minecraft Earth Gets a Lockdown-Friendly R15 Update

Minecraft Earth’s latest update is designed to make your life easier, virus-wise. Version R15 lets you spawn adventures anywhere, eliminating the need to risk your life by going outside.

Magic: ManaStrike

The latest Magic: ManaStrike update adds two new Planeswalkers: Vivien and Teferi. There’s also a new Magic Pass, called Vivien Season. Pretty harsh on poor old Teferi, but that’s life. The Magic Pass is available in free and premium flavors.

Call of Duty: Mobile

The latest Call of Duty@ Mobile update is a whopper, and the star of the show is no doubt Meltdown, a new map taken straight from Call of Duty: Black Ops II, where it was a fan-favorite.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition

The Minecraft: Pocket Edition Nether update makes several significant changes. Most notably, it adds Piglins and Hoglins, both of which are horrible, but only one of which is edible.

Lara Croft GO

Square Enix has made its excellent puzzler Lara Croft GO free for the next seven days. Download it immediately if you don’t already own it. Unfortunately, the other two GO games are still full price.

Monument Valley 2

ustwo has made Monument Valley 2 free to download for an indeterminate period of time. Download it immediately if you don’t already own it. Unfortunately, Monument Valley is still full price.

Danmaku Unlimited 3

Danmaku Unlimited 3 is a Western take on the bullet-hell shooters first popularised by Cave. It looks a bit like DoDonPachi or Espgaluda, in other words, but it’s not quite as searingly difficult.
