Humble Bundle has had amazing success since its inception back in 2010. If you are not familiar with it, here is a brief summation. Digital bundles of games or other media are put together for you to purchase. You get to name your own price, while supporting various charities. Things have expanded quite a bit now to include a Weekly Bundle, Books Bundles, Mobile Bundles, Flash Bundles and of course the Humble Store. The Humble Bundle PC and Android 11 just went live. It is amazing, over five-thousand bundles have been sold thus far. Why? Because this bundle is full of great gaming. What happens when you put four friends together that enjoy gaming? Let’s say their tastes in gaming range from classics such as Planescape: Torment and Zelda, to TT Superbikes, Braid and Mass Effect, just to name a few. With their great appreciation for gaming as a medium to connect with others, it should be no surprise that these four friends would create a game studio. Megabot, and its founders, are based primarily in York, UK. Their first game Backspace, is currently in development for multiple platforms. Fortunately for the Android gaming community, we can expect Backspace to arrive on our devices in the distant future.
Unmechanical from Talawa Games and Teotl Studios has finally made its way into the Play Store. The game upon release, was highly revered because of its staggeringly beautiful environments, that were meshed with some very fine puzzle elements. Jim Vessella, Simon Armstrong and Kyle Van Meurs created SuperMoon Games. Based in San Francisco, CA, they created their game studio earlier this year, “…with the goal of creating delicious, bite-sized games that could be enjoyed by both veteran gamers and an eager generation of new players.” These gentlemen were so passionate about gaming, that they chose to leave corporate America to do their own thing. That means, this first game is completely self-funded. It is their hope that it will be successful enough for them to continue making games. Galaxy Dash: Race to Outer Run is a roller coaster of an endless runner that is bold, beautiful and exciting to play. If their goal was to create delicious, bite-sized games, then this one is a big snack that won’t leave you hungry.
Kiloo Games will be unleashing their latest project, Smash Champs, upon the gaming community in October. Based in Denmark, Kiloo Games has created the wildly popular Subway Surfers, Frisbee Forever, Frisbee Forever 2 and Bullet Time HD, which unfortunately, is only on iOS. Subway Surfers continues to be beloved by many, and continues to be updated by Kiloo with new free game content. This is impressive considering how long the game has been out. With Smash Champs, Kiloo is moving away from the endless runner genre, but based on the little we have seen, they will continue their successful track record.
Just because the week is over doesn’t mean there aren’t great games to be discovered. If you are in a rush and only have a few moments to get some gaming in this weekend, you should try a game called The Tower. The game was created by AYA Games and is currently published by Ketchapp Mobile Game Studio based in Italy. The premise of the game is uncomplicated. Build your tower by stacking the moving pieces on top of one another. The game is entertaining and remarkably elegant, because of the level of detail put into the game and its crisp and clean graphics.
