Activision delays the release of the Call of Duty Elite mobile app

Modern Warfare 3 has been out for a little bit now and the new Call of Duty Elite system has been having troubles keeping up with all the traffic. Offered in both a free and premium membership, the Call of Duty Elite system is a service that offers a wide variety of extra features to Modern Warfare 3 including plenty of social features.

Along with this, Activision was suppose to release a mobile application for the Call of Duty Elite service for Android and iOS that would also come with some of these features including the ability to change classes, set up new classes and rearrange your gear before pushing it to the game so when you get home you are all set and can just jump right into the game and start shooting people in the face. Due tot he problems that the service has been experiencing due to the strain on the servers, they have delayed the release of the mobile app.

“We are holding back on launching the Elite mobile applications until the service is stable and our players can easily access it. We will have the apps ready to launch as soon as we are comfortable the experience will be a great one” – Activision

Since the release of Modern Warfare 3 the new Elite service has been experiencing intermittent problems, mostly in the form of downtime. In order to not add any extra strain on the servers, Activision is waiting till they deal with that before releasing the app. As of right now there is no exact time line as to when to expect the release of the mobile app for the Call of Duty Elite service. When it’s released though, we will be sure to update you so you can go grab it. Until it’s available though, feel free to check out the preview of the mobile app in our sneak peek we reported on last week.
