Among Us has released its v17.0.0 update with two brand new roles and an unexpected Genshin Impact collab. Innersloth has introduced a new role for Crewmates and another for Impostors, changing how you approach every Emergency Meeting and sabotage attempt.

Who are the new ones?

It’s Detective for Crewmates and Viper for Impostors. The Detective is the first Crewmate role to come with two separate abilities. With Notes, you can record where a body was found, build a suspect list, and track which type of Impostor you’re up against.

Also, the Interrogate ability lets you press other Crewmates about their whereabouts during the crime. There’s a limit to how many interrogations you can run at once. You’ll need to switch cases if multiple murders are in play.

The Viper, on the other hand, gives the Impostor a nasty new trick with acid. Instead of leaving behind the usual corpse, Viper victims slowly dissolve in three stages until there’s nothing left but bone. And eventually, nothing at all.

If timed right with a sabotage, the kill can disappear entirely before anyone calls a meeting. Advanced settings let hosts adjust how quickly the body dissolves. And the role comes with a unique kill animation to go with the meltdown.

What’s in store in the Among Us x Genshin Impact collab?

The Among Us x Genshin Impact is running from September 11th until October 11th, 2025. You can unlock a free Paimon Cosmetic Set by logging in. The set includes a Paimon Wig, a Paimon Costume, and the Crest of the Best Travel Companion nameplate.

The collab is connected to the launch of Genshin Impact’s Version Luna I update, which opens up the new region Nod-Krai. The crossover is a bit of an unusual pairing, considering Genshin’s popularity and history of collaborations outside gaming, like with car companies, food brands, and museums.

Nonetheless, the new set looks quite fun! So, grab Among Us from the Google Play Store and check out the new stuff.
