Hawken will be released onto Steam this month but where is the Ouya version?

When the Ouya was announced many many moons ago, one game that was supposed to be one of the headlining titles for the Android-powered game console was Hawken, the mech-filled combat MMOFPS game that many of us would actually like to play. With the new announcement of Hawken being released onto Steam this month, it begs the question as to where the Ouya version of this game is and if we will ever actually see it.

Hawken was showcased as one of the major titles that would be gracing the Ouya console. It was shown playing on it and, if you really want to get technical, there was also a demonstration of Hawken using Nvidia’s Shield. While the latter can be done through the GameStream technology onto the Shield, the Ouya version really shouldn’t be that difficult to bring to the table since there shouldn’t be a grip of modifications to be done between playing it on the Shield and playing it on the Ouya. Hell we’ve seen it being demoed on a Transformer Prime tablet using Gaikai cloud gaming service that Sony now owns.

While we don’t pretend to know all that goes on with the development of a particular game at any given time, unless we are told about it of course, we can’t help but wonder why the Ouya version has taken so long to arrive. After all it was supposed to be a headlining title for the console and yet here we are with no Hawken.

We try not to complain too much about game releases, especially since we understand that at any given point something could happen to delay a game’s release. What would be good to know is some sort of update on the status of Hawken’s release onto Ouya. It has been a long time since we’ve heard anything about it.

The good news is there is that live wallpaper that was released for the Hawken game. I guess that will have to do for right now.
