I’m not a huge fan of Anime-inspired games, unless they are of a very particular strain. Basically I’ll know a good Anime when I see one, but I can’t really explain the type I’d like. Zenonia 5 is uber cute, filled with massive explosions and weapons, packed with cute but deadly monsters and pretty much what you might expect from a freemium Anime shoot-em-up for Android. I found it semi-delightful until the game would punish me for seemingly no reason.
2012 saw lots of fantastic games arriving on Android, and as such in terms of gaming Android enjoyed a healthy growth. Some of them were original ones, while others were ports from other platforms or classic hits. Anyway, I’ve decided to compile my five most disappointing games that came out in 2012. Just a slight note – disappointing here doesn’t necessarily mean that the game isn’t good, but merely that it turned out to be something lesser than what I expected.
As if there aren’t already enough zombie games flying around on Google Play, you can now thank former NBA basketball star Shaquille O’Neal for adding one more game to that menacing list with ShaqDown. Developed by Hiptic Games, this is a game with a simple kind of design where you jump between three levels and take on hordes of zombies by throwing a basketball and unleashing a special power.
As you all already know by now, the Tegra 4 chip and the Nvidia Project Shield handheld console, which we will talk about after this, were announced at a special event yesterday night before CES 2013 began officially. Naturally, with the launch of nVidia’s latest mobile processor launch, they have unveiled a selection of games that will arrive on the platform in the coming months.
Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is a game we’ve talked about a few times in the recent past. Developed by American MeGee and his company Spicy Horse Games, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is a rather good looking action RPG that tells a rather twisted version of Red Riding Hood while meshing it with setting it in the Edo period of Japan, inspired by ancient demons, with hand-painted visuals.
Ok, so yesterday we brought you exclusive news of the first known Tegra 4 game called Codex the Warrior. The Tegra 4 chipset should be announced soon, and probably we’d see a boatload of titles announced just for that platform during next week’s CES.

Capcom has finally publicly released Street Fighter IV on Google Play for residents of Japan. However, this game has been available for folks who happened to own one of the LG HD phones that were released last year which came with this game exclusively for those devices. It now looks like everyone else will final get to play the game without having to use the cracked version from XDA.
Square Enix has become quite active on mobile platforms in recent times, churning out original mobile titles as well as ports of their older hits. One such new original mobile product is Demons’ Score, a rhythm-based action game where you duel against the demons of the underworld. Some new regarding the upcoming action-sim game called Star Command that a lot of people are eager to get their hands on. While no official release date has been announced just yet, it does look like the game could very well arrive in January 2013 as we reported on earlier. It looks like a lot is ready in terms of content with plenty of missions and numerous races, ships, items and so on already in the game. Now it’s on to stress testing everything.
